  • Near Dilla, a bustling market town on the road from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, the 403 members of the Dumerso cooperative grow their coffee on small farms averaging only two to three acres. The coffee is washed and sundried on raised beds at a nearby washing station run by the cooperative.

    Dumerso is one of 28 member cooperatives of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), an umbrella organization representing more than 45,000 farmers. YCFCU supports sustainability projects throughout the Gedeo region, including education and infrastructure projects.
