Coffee is traditionally so important to the Costa Rican economy that between 1846 and 1890, it was the nation’s only export! The economy has diversified in the past 100 years but Costa Rica has retained a reputation for producing clear, sweet, pleasant cups with a light body.
You will notice the sweetness and delicate body in this naturally processed cup from the Naranjo region. Husband and wife team Fernando and Angie Altmann began growing coffee in Naranjo at their Gaia estate in 2015. By 2018 they found their footing and made further investments in processing that took their coffee to the highest levels on the international market. The Altmann’s named the Gaia estate after the primordial goddess of the earth to promote and celebrate the environment!
